Ok. Got the two “shakedown cruises” out of the way. AM 1700 is technically a work in progress and they are literally piecing together the studio (a converted office) as I’m doing the show. So far so good. With luck, my old compadre Jorge Espinoza will be join the team next week, so there will be somewhat of a comfort zone factor.
Lot of questions about Scooter and his future and whereabouts. I’ve strenulously tried to get Scot to be part of this team but it now appears, by mutual decision between him and B.C.A. that it would not be worth his time financially, at least at the moment. You might not know it, but Scooter has a little at-home business ( a sailing website) that provided him with a pretty decent income without having to change out of his pajamas.
What’s interesting so far about the on-air interaction at AM 1700 so far is the virtual absense of righty whack-jobs calling in to give me a hard time. You would think, given the tilt of the on-air line-up, there’d be a bunch Republican talking point cyphers waiting to pounce. Are they afraid? Have they come to their senses? Will they merely wait for me in the parking lot at 7:05? I know for a fact that there are still any number of kool aid drinking zomboids out there who will say “fight ‘em there so we don’t have to fight ‘em here” the moment you push their button, but maybe the asylum doesn’t allow them outside phone calls.
Anyway, any ideas about topics, guests, etc. email me at stacytayloris@cox.net or simply post them here.
The hippies were right!!
Stacy hasn’t had many right winger nut jobs call him because his 14 listeners are all liberals.
Good to see Stacy hasn’t switched his political beliefs this time in order to get a job. He’s usually good for a political switch every few years in order to get a new job. Its hard to keep up with a guy whose continually getting bounced around.
The real estate market must be down for him to take a two bit job on a low rated, low signal station.

Stacy:
I honestly think many erstwhile right-leaning citizens re-thinking their attitudes and are feeling shame for their ignorance in supporting a failed war resulting in wasted lives and billions of dollars to chase a commodity that’s killing the planet and depleting, anyway…in supporting monopolistic interests that has diminished the strength of America…
They’ve come to realize that you can’t force democracy on a country by invading and destroying it.
They’ve come to realize that taking the moralistic high ground can also expose a lot of hypocrisy and maybe they should stay out of people’s bedrooms…cf. Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, Larry Craig and the many other righties who are still confined to their closets.
Maybe the righties now realize it’s time to use our brainpower; not our military power to solve problems. Many of our military leaders have said climate change will be a bigger threat to nat’l security than terrorism. Let’s use some of our military might to solve problems.
The neocons and 1-party rule has set us back as a nation…this, i think, their former supporters now realize.

Stacy has it about right. I do just fine w/o working in radio, but in truth NOBODY from BCA has ever contacted me about working there. I have no doubt that the PD, Mark Larson, does not like me, and I have no doubt that whatever lies that were spread by the douchebags at CC about me didn\’t help either. Stacy of course doesn\’t need me, but I have no doubt that his show is better with me than without. It only shows the right wing bias and piss poor management that runs BCA when they don\’t even at least have a conversation with me. They didn\’t even take the time to contact the guy who has produced Stacy\’s show for the last five years or so? Nice work. I fart in their general direction!

Stacy– Congrats on the new gig; hopefully they won’t drive you crazy (or crazier).
Any idea on when they might start podcasting you?
Comment by Scott McLachlan — Monday, January 7, 2008 @ 8:07 am
As an idea for a show (since I missed Friday’s show, you may have covered it) you may want to talk about the Faux News dissing of Ron Paul. You also might want to touch on McCain’s “100 year Iraq War” and the DailyKos bit about the 9year old’s analysis of the Republican debate– its found at: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/1/6/25723/26527/751/431492

I’m always glad for somebody to have a job in their chosen field, but less outright disdain for any right wing position and more humor would help. Seldom agreed with you even before you showed “true colors”, but liked your style before KLSD; you were getting a bit shrill and “Scooter” seldom knew from the hell he was coming from or talking about.
From your recent input it seems you are still locked into the past: AN UNJUST WAR AND FAILED POLICY JUST FOR OIL AND THE FUN OF KILLING ARAB FOLK. Jeez! Get into the present or go the way of KLSD.
News Flash: The Left ain’t all good or correct; same goes for the Right.

thank you lori. i miss ranting as well, but jesus h. christ, do i hate the radio buiness. for the most part it is run by the biggest bunch of fucking idiots imaginable. under the current group of radio owners, managers, formats, and fcc nazis, there really is no place for me to do my thing the way i’d want to do it. i’d love to be on satelite, but i’m quite happy making my site go. if i didn’t have that, i’d be trying hard to get there. maybe if they get a pd who isn’t a right wing kook at 1700, i can hook back up with stacy, but i wouldn’t hold my breath. this is stacy’s blog but stacy and i friends and since i don’t get the chance to butt in on the mic, i’ll do it here from time to time!

hey matt - anytime you want to try to prove that i don’t “from the hell he was coming from or talking about”, be sure to drop me an e-mail. i guarantee you got nothin’. scooter@nethere.com

Scooter babe!!! It’s wonderful to “see” your voice. ITA re the sorryass state of radio, the criminal FCC, on and on. You were a great addition to Stacy’s smear channel show, and I loved your own rant show and miss it. I hope you’ll call in now and then, as well as write here. WTSHTF and you are afloat in your sailing ship maybe you can broadcast pirate radio, eh mate? If a satellite venue approaches you, try to get one we of little means can stream for free, ‘k? We won’t be holding our collective breath for a progressive station–in the Excited Snakes of Theocorporatechristofascism, the truth and support of the Constitution (that “goddamned piece of paper”) are now grounds for a one-way ticket to Gitmo, a paradise, yeah, right, of lemon chicken and rice pilaf I hear tell. Crap, Martha Stewart said they don’t have lemons in American prisons! Anywho, wishing you red sky at night.
Stacy, thank you so much for inviting Scot to participate here. Had to laugh today at the tone of your question to the dimwitted Romney supporter–”And why is that, Dave?” He’s an idiot, that’s why. Betcha he straps his dog to his car rooftop, too. Man, these repukes love torture, for others. As for a listener party, that is one thing I suggested to the PD. I’m 99% antisocial but would finally come to one if I can get there easily by bus. Near downtown would be my first choice. Unfortunately, I can barely get you on my home radios so have to stream. Why wouldn’t the signal be better in North Park?
Joshua, I thought about disputing your falsehoods, but words would be wasted on you. Then your grasp of the truth comes around–”the real estate market must be down”? Duh? Everything is perfect in the RE market–haven’t you heard? No foreclosures, no defaults, interest rates at an alltime low, easy access to bank loans, property values rising, and I have a bridge you can buy if you pay in Euros. For the record, not all Americans worship the lardalmighty dollar. Some of us believe that “liberty and justice for all” is a higher calling than lies, greed and theft.
Comment by Kathleen — Monday, January 7, 2008 @ 8:02 pm
The 1700 signal is weaker than the old klsd signal. Hard to believe, but true. I live in Bankers Hill and work downtown, and have trouble with the signal in both areas.
But I’m VERY happy there’s a rational voice back in town. You’ve been missed, Stacy.
Now, if only we could get some of the Air America programming back…
Keep the faith, folks. It’s gonna be a long year.

thanks brother. i don’t mean to hog stacy’s blog (yes i do) but it is fun to be back in touch with y’all. stacy actually asked me to call in, so i will! if those idiots in management at 1700 (or anywhere for that matter) knew a god damn thing about good radio, they’d dump one of those right wing retards (larson, reagan or boortz or miller) and give me a show. stacy and i would be a good 1-2 punch!

Yeeah! Scooter and Stacy live!!
Comment by Rob — Monday, January 7, 2008 @ 9:56 pm
Wub ya dude {hugs} Brother/sister/whatever, ya know? No prob. And hog all you want (said like I own the damn place). The reichtards won’t give a millimeter until this country goes down in flames, and then they’ll STILL freakin blame the nonexistent “liberal” media, AND they’ll probably want “free food” or something they wanted to deny others–until the shit hits their “homeland” fan. Twinkies for spongebobs!
Sooo, when I write to Larson again, want me to to put in a beg/plug for you? What hours do you want? (Please, not in Malloy’s slot until I can figure out how/buy equipment to podcast free!) I am soooo disappointed with what AAR has done to my loves–Maron, Seder, Malloy–so I’m concentrating on our local stars. You and Stacy are them! If the neocons are so powerful, and they spew on 99% of the media, why are they such pansyasses about letting a so-called “fringe” voice being heard ONCE IN A DAMN WHILE? The answer is…they are pansyasses and want to be whipped for their evil thoughts and deeds, but get away with them until then. Hypocrites! They could add A plus 1 and get bathroom sex while t/humping against alphabets, numbers, and bathrooms.
BTW, I will not listen to regressive programs. NPR is barely tolerable since its takeover by the wingers. I prefer KSDS. What I want is 24/7 progressive talk, ON JUST ONE STATION–is that too much to ask when the other 99 are reichwing?, and don’t no one talk to me ’bout Lionel, aka Springer with bigger words. He’s good for looking up new words, but don’t we all have dictionaries?
Until the day I die, I’ll never forget when you April fooled us about your demise. Just a few months early, wouldn’t you say? Come back!
Hugs to your family. Just seeing your words here make me feel like, well, better. Sail on sail on sailor!

funny. tell larson that you heard that mark and i are close personal friends and that you are surprised that he hasn’t hired me yet! that’ll get a rise out of that stiff. terrestrial radio is in a really bad way, with a lot of unfunny, uncreative and uninteresting people making way too much money doing really bad radio. clear channel is the biggest purveyor of all this pablum, but there are plenty of other guilty parties as well. i told larson he didn’t deserve stacy, and of course he doesn’t. such is the sad state of radio that total douchebags like limbaugh and savage and roberts and mikey and franklin and hedgekook, etc., all have big fat salaries puking out their brand of crappy radio, and stacy is reduced to being on 1700, which is just to the right of your glovebox on the radio dial. however, and sadly, without stacy there wouldn’t be a single interesting talk show host in this town. though i am a minor player, i’m virtually blacklisted by the conservative dopes who are in charge here. in the big picture of radio, ratings are down, revenues are way off and it is in real trouble. no wonder all the big radio companies are fighting the merger of sirius and xm satellite radio - they fully well know that it is the real future of radio, and anybody who has it, knows how true that is. but it is only because of their gutless programming, talentless “talent”, shitty programmed music stations, over commercialization, bowing to the fcc, etc., that they have driven radio to the sad state it is in. i for one will cheer the death of the swine for what they have done.

Hey Stacy!
So glad to have found you back on the air. It’ll take a little while to get into the habit of tuning to 1700AM, that and not having you on in the mornings… Keep on covering the local stuff, especially when you can draw the links to bigger issues and movements. My family and I will be listening while prepping, cooking, and maybe eating dinner.
Keep up the great work! I’ll be listening for more “Camp Bongwater” ads!
(Oh, it would be so cool if you could bring Jon Elliott’s show on to follow yours!)
Gotta run,

Fishfinger, seriously, move on. Your embarrassing yourself.
Good to have you back Stacy.
Glad to hear Scooter’s doing OK.

Just heard your statement on Air America.
Point of fact: Obama was not saying the Pledge of Allegiance when pictured without his hand over his heart. It was the singing of the National Anthem after the pledge. It does not require any gesture.
Please get your facts straight.
For all those who want facts rather than political smears on any candidates statements or
picture representations I suggest www.factcheck.com. It is a nonpolitical website proving the American people with “truth” which after all is supposed to set us free!
