This store was ALWAYS well patronized--you might have even shopped here yourself at one time-- and as I stated is the ONLY major grocery store chain in downtown El Cajon-what are the chances, do you think, that the reasons they will give for closing this store will be due to concessions they had to make in the last grocery workers dispute that have suddenly caused this store to turn unprofitable? ( i.e. blame it on the unions etc)? Albertsons has another store--the name escapes me now--think it is called something FARMS--that is non-union. I am waiting to see if a grocery store under that particular name opens on the site of the soon to be closed Albertsons--or if once again, more vacant store frontage shows its ugly head in downtown El Cajon.--another blow to so called downtown redevelopment. I am also waiting to see if this upcoming scenario will be repeated throughout our county in another attempt to get back at the grocery worker's union and have unionized workers replaced with non-union personnel.
