The excruciating 2 week sports nerd fest leading up to the Superbowl finally ended at 3:30 pm Sunday when the actual game began. It felt almost anti-climactic from the start, having to live up….or down…to the endless talk show babble and over analysis that preceeded it. Clearly more “expert” analysis was devoted , and more attention payed, to Tom Brady’s ankle injury than such mundane issues as universal healthcare and immigration reform. And with good reason. Obviously more people are interested in the Superbowl than the issues that affect America’s future, or more precisely the issues like drivers licenses for illegal aliens that will have virtually zero effect on anyone’s life. Some bloke even included a blow-by-blow of the final few plays of yesterday’s game on this website. And worse yet, more attention was payed to the series of lame-ass commercials that played during the game than the game itself. America does have a multi-faceted way of amusing itself to death.
And it’s probably just as well that so-called Super Tuesday followed Superbowl Sunday this year so we could all take a break from McCain’s war mongering, Romney’s Wall Street pimping, and the lovefest that is now Hillary-Obama.
Actually I only decided to post a blog today for the oppurtunity to include a link to the best political ad of the season, one for Steve Novick, a Deomocrat currently running for U.S. Senate against Gordon Smith in Oregon. Novick has a prosthetic hand which comes into play in this ad which mocks the “which candidate would you like to have a beer with” banality: http://cgi.fark.com/cgi/fark/youtube.pl?IDLink=3372885.
I was hoping I wasn’t the only one who thought the whole production of this Bowl was an insult to any thinking human being. The game couldn’t have been any more boring and the so called clever adds were downright sophmoric. My comment to my viewing mate was(what the fuck has this country’s IQ has sunk to?) Re. add, more should be so pointed and clever

Tomorrow is the big day. As I have said before I am going to vote for Hillary because I believe she has a better chance to win the general election. To plagiarize something I read elsewhere if you lefties think the US is going to elect someone further to the left than Hillary you are having letting the wishful thinking take over.

Oh, and Stacy I laughed out loud when I heard you the other night wondering why the heck the media give so much coverage to anything that falls from Limbaugh’s lips.
Dang! There was even a question about him at the Republican debate in California. What is up with that?

Rush Bimbo is a fat idiot. He’s a hatemongering jerk and a total hypocrite.
Only idiots like to listen to El Rushbo, and to all the Rush-Bimbo-Wannabes that saturate radio these days. Unfortunately there’s a ton of idiots in the Good Ol’ USA (which is how Bush was elected) who listen to right-wing radio.
If it wasn’t for the fact that the media is owned by right-wing conglomerates, righty hate-radio would disappear. But revenue loss from right-wing-radio is absorbed by the corporations that run the stations, so that the right-wing propaganda can continue unabated.
Comment by goodguy — Tuesday, February 5, 2008 @ 12:42 pm
Speaking of listening to bad things on the radio. Having my radio dialed in to 1700 has caused me some culture shock. OMG I went to move my car at lunch and there was New York Mike. Yikes! What is wrong with those people? I got off late yesterday and on the way home I heard Reagan say that if you “reached across the aisle” to shake hands with Democrats you would need to shower later. What? I suppose I have been living a sheltered life not knowing that these kinds of things are being promoted almost 24/7 for the 365.
Stacy, you are a voice in the wilderness. I truly hope that you will stay strong for the rest of us. In case any 1700 people are reading here I will let you know that I do stay tuned in for the financial shows and for some of the right wing crap but when they cross the line as these two talkers did I hit the power button.
Comment by Virginia M — Tuesday, February 5, 2008 @ 1:20 pm
It is tough to listen to this station beyond Stacy’s show. I sent an email to Mark Larson, complimenting him on an exchange with Bob Filner that I thought was civilized even though they disagreed, and an example of the variety of opinion I thought he was trying to offer (as program director). I said I hoped he was running provocative Stacy promos on Reagan’s show, asked if he was kidding with NY Mike (is he?) and suggested Ed Schultz in the noon slot for “balance”. I haven’t heard back from him.
Comment by Glenn in San Marcos — Tuesday, February 5, 2008 @ 4:26 pm
Sorry fishfinger, but when someone says Rush Bimbo is a fat idiot, a hatemongering jerk and a total hypocrite, and that only idiots like to listen to him, they are simply reciting facts. That’s a lot different that what happens on right-wing radio, where they constantly spew lies and hatred instead.
And if you are so upset about hate radio, let me know which right-wing blog you comment on where you criticize righties like you write here — It’d be great to see the responses you get.

This article sheds some light on what the DLC is all about. It takes very little gray matter to figure out what is going on with the Senate and the House leadership. There is less then 30 real democrats in both institutions combined. These DLC frauds and the blue dogs that call themselves democrats would break their necks doing tricks for their republican masters.
Bill Clinton and the New Bourbonism
by Ralph Brauer
As we ponder the ascension of yet another Clinton to the White House it is instructive to remember what the first Clinton stood for and nowhere is that better articulated than in the history of the Democratic Leadership Council.

Kathleen, It is truly frightening that Hillary recently voted to declare Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps a foreign terrorist organization, thereby loading Bush’ quiver with more arrows. And Jesse, you’re right that she is selling out and pandering to shore up conservative hawks and pro-Israel voters. But isn’t she our one best bet? Obama is dead serious about turning my party into Republican light.
It is very fashionable to say that all of our leaders are just the same and that there is no difference between Republican and Democratic politicians, but I say a whole helluva lot changed with the Bush presidency. That’s the biggest war I remember us starting in recent history. Coupled with the attacks on civil liberties and the reduction of government services, we need to change things back desperately. If McCain wins in November, all bets are off. “It’s all over now, Baby Blue.”
I love John Edwards. And I wish like hell we could elect somebody like Dennis Kucinich or Christopher Dodd. But this is a pitched battle. We have to go with our leader. Defeat is not an option. Besides, I kinda like the idea of a girl president.

Stacy, It was a great show on election night even though I stayed on hold for a million years and never did get on. I was on hold literally while I was in the election booth voting for Hillary.
Of course for me I think it would be much more fun bashing Republicans and talking about issues. I like the coverage of the Toll Road. Keep up the good work!
Comment by Virginia M — Thursday, February 7, 2008 @ 1:51 pm
With Edwards out,I am still hoping that SOMEONE running as an independent will be stepping forward to give us more of a choice in voting than it appears we will have now. Have no idea who that could be (I guess at this time Lieberman is the only supposed independent around–but that would definitely be like voting Republican)–Right now I can’t see myself voting for ANYONE among those still left–regardless of who becomes the Democratic nominee–this is really sad!! Am just hoping time will bring us a viable candidate before November. With this limited selection, maybe this COULD be the year for those other parties who usually end up with mere a fraction of a percent of the popular vote.

Stacy:
I’m glad to know your back up and running.
Comments
1. The racist and sexist explanations are overblown. Eric Alterman was right when he wrote The election is about the “narrative”. For all intents, Obama is not primarily perceived as black by many (which is why the right-wing smear was about being a Muslim). Yes there are many shallow people who will vote the “identity” politic way. But Obama acts and speaks as white as any Ivy League graduate. Whereas Hilary Clinton is not perceived primarily as a white woman. She too is perceived for her attitudes, motives and loyalties. These are red herring issues directed at a gullible nation by talking heads trying to steer this election. Still the likelihood is that Hillary is bringing another “soap opera” to the white house—too much baggage.
2. Whereas McCain is playing the right-wing fears cards—all the things the insecure have been trained and brainwashed to worry about. McCain shows little capacity for original thought or real leadership. All his speeches will be written. He too will carry a nasty agenda be the new puppet who merely acts as boss.
3. Politicians still in the race for the presidency are those that have no radical agendas—that is no intention to getting to any “root” of the problem—which is sometimes necessary. The mediocre candidates left standing are the personalities the Powers-That-Be have effectively foisted onto the American consciousness via the main stream crime syndicate and their deception tactics. They will support the current status quo. The American public is too retarded to realize that Ralph Nader was right—both parties are too corrupt to support any longer. But Americans are too distracted to realize the real work requires something more original than playing the media’s game of status quo pulp fiction.
4. You were right the other day about the talking heads playing reverse psychology with John McCain’ electability. Even Ann Coulter is not likely so evil as to really support torture—save maybe her secret desire to tie up “gay” John Edwards. Given Mccain’s past as a POW, he was “weak” and wobbly on denouncing torture (which is why he is not a good candidate—he does not have sensibilities about moral issues).
5. Whereas Ann Coulter is an “object” of interest—which is why several of those prurient paparazzi should think about following her around with a camera. You said last week you would not be too predisposed to click on a video showing Britney Spears or Paris Hilton getting out of a car while not wearing panties. Well I would be so inclined to click on some exposes of Ann Coulter’s assets—especially her legs and derriere. She is basically tabloid sensation material anyway so we should be focusing on her better physical qualities than that of her mediocre mentality. So can you please make an appeal for the parasites of the paparazzi to give Miss Asset a spin? I just know she is worthy of attention.
Thank you,
Johnny Walk of Central Park (pahk) Balboa.

Top Cop Says McCain Was Never Tortured
Former Vietnam vet with top secret clearance - Republican frontrunner is “a lying skunk”
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Thursday, February 7th, 2008
A former Vietnam veteran with top secret clearance says he has personally spoken to numerous POW’s who dispute John McCain’s claim that he refused to provide information after he was captured and tortured in Hanoi, saying that in fact McCain’s code-name was “Songbird” because of his willingness to tell all to avoid torture.
Jack McLamb served nine years in secret operations in Cambodia and other nations before going on to become one of the most highly decorated police officer’s in Phoenix history, winning police officer of the year twice before taking a role as a hostage negotiator for the FBI.
“I know a lot of Vietnam veterans and a few POW’s and all the POW’s that I’ve talked to over the years say that John McCain is a lying skunk,” McLamb told the Alex Jones Show.

Virginia M I am not bashing Hillary I just voice the fact that she is a product of the DLC. The DLC is a compromised political philosophy created by Bill Clinton and other southern democrats to be more like republicans. The only way to be more like something is to become it. Women make fine leaders but Hillary Clinton is NO leader!!!!
Why I hate Hillary is
(A) She is a republican and is running as a democrat that makes her a fraud.
(B) Hillary Clinton knew Saddam Hussein did NOT HAVE ANY WMD’s that makes Hillary and Bill Clinton accessories to murder.
(c) That is why I hate her guts.
(D) If I want to vote for a republican I would vote for the one that is run as a republican
Comment by Jesse east county — Thursday, February 7, 2008 @ 7:08 pm
Well, Dear Jesse, as I said in an earlier post I honestly do not believe that someone to the left of Hillary can win the general election. Are you saying that you do not see the huge differences between Hillary and McCain?
“Hate her guts” is pretty strong sentiment and in my opinion is undeserved But, party on, if you stay passionate and stay involved sooner or later there is every chance that the country will move in your direction. For myself I want a Democrat in the White House for the next four years.
I heard the other day that more people voted for Democrats in San Diego in the primaries than voted for Republicans. That is surely a new development!

Jack, do we really need to malign McCain in this way? Am I to take it that you’re like the anti-immigration right-wingers that just booed him during his post-Romney speech? Because if you’re hoping to help Hillary win with those kind of tactics, you’re borrowing from the other team’s playbook.
Swift Boat Veteran’s for Truth Ring a bell? Those assholes maligned the service of John Kerry, and apparently, millions of people were stupid enough to listen to them. What does that tell you about the other side’s base?
So, I keep listening to this crappy, toxic station that poor Stacy is bravely working at… This total dick comes on to say that McCain was a shitty pilot. Are you kidding me? We don’t need this in our political discourse. It’s time to marginalize the dumbshits, not court them. How dare you question the torture he may or may not have endured? I haven’t ever heard him mention it, even once. He was a POW in Viet Nam for six years. So you could do that standing on your head?
I mean it’s so obvious on the surface. Even if his men really called him that in prison, how the hell could it be a code-name? Little radios under the bunks like Hogan’s Hero’s. Go watch an episode of 24.

This recipe is a good guide to making restaurant-quality enchiladas. I just used one can of mild red enchilada sauce to one pound of cooked, chopped turkey breast. Prepare filling and toppings before you fry the yellow corn tortillas. You can shred lettuce, cilantro and tomatoes while the enchiladas are baking. I like iceberg lettuce if you can find it fresh enough. Like the recipe says, combine 1/4 cup of the sauce and 1/4 cup of grated cheese with the turkey filling. I also added 1/4 cup of diced ortega chilis to the filling. I added thyme, freshly ground black pepper and a small amount of Valentina red hot sauce to this mixture. The trickiest part is frying the tortillas. You don’t have to deep-fry them exactly. Use a generous amount of olive oil in a hot cast-iron skillet. I also sprayed the pan with PAM. Pour about 2/3 cup of enchilada sauce into a bowl for dipping the tortillas. Throw them one at a time into the hot oil. Give them about ten seconds on a side. Drain them on paper towels. They should not stick together. If you are careful, they will not tear. After the enchiladas are rolled up and placed in the pan, add the remaining sauce and cheese. Top with diced green onion and sliced california olives. Bake at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes. Serve with shredded lettuce, tomatoes and diced cilantro.

Sorry SHRED - It’s too much fun to feed (bait) the trolls. What idiots they are!
I can’t get to this as often as I’d like to. At some point I’ll cease, though, when the boredom factor gets big enough.
Hey fishfinger - You were going to provide a link to a righty forum where you post complaints about right-wing hate-speak, like you complain about “leftie hate talk…” here. It would be wonderful to see the responses you get.
Obviously you wimped out, fishfinger, but I’m not surprised. Probably you never complain anywhere about righty-hate-speak, since you engage in it so much…

Did everyone hear about the righties bleating about how some of them weren’t able to vote last week? How incredibly rich.
There was an article about in the fishwrap last week…
“Denial of GOP ballots tops poll problems” (Our Region, Feb. 7)”
It turns out that a lot of them didn’t register properly, and then when the repuglican party enforced a closed primary, they lost out.
I guess Hedgekook and some others screamed to high heaven about it. Of course, these were the same clowns who made fun of the voters in Florida who were disenfranchised because of defective ballots there back in 2000.
It looks like right-wing clowns are Ok with a bad election process as long as it benefits them, but when they can’t follow simple directions and lose out, boy, do they start whining!
Hilarious!

Stacy - Thanks for talking on your show about the joke McCain made back in ‘98 about Chelsea Clinton. You were wondering why it didn’t get more play back then, and, really, what’s all the fuss about anyway?
Well, I think it didn’t get a lot of play back then because it was in the noise. With the right-wing hate machine blaring away, and the main-steam media wallowing in their anti-Clinton bias, and McCain pretty much being a “B-list” celebrity anyway, his joke was just considered par for the repuglican course.
As far as the fuss, for me it says a ton about this guy, who thinks he should be our president. I’d expect it coming from the mouth of a right-wing loudmouth, but I guess that’s really what McCain is all about, after all. Anyone remember “bomb bomb Iran”?
