  9. Yet another currupt Democrate resigns in disgrace. I know Detroit is an utterly currupt city because I have tried to do business there and the place is steaped in filt, kickbacks and rip offs galore. The mayor is just the tip of the iceberg for this “ruinded by Unions and Democrates and a welfair mentality” city.

If they are such a failure then why do they keep kicking the snot out of the Democrates? The actual failed party is the Democratic party incase you can’t see who has wnn the last 2 Presidentual ellections and is going to win this next one. That makes them the WINNERS!!!

  14. I think Lieberman was always more of a Republican than a Democrat. We have a similar situation going on in the east county congressional race. So Mike Lumpkin the Democrat nominee has a great service record, but where does he stand on the issues? I want to elect someone who is progressive and going to support choice, cut military spending and put more money into education. Stop worrying about immigrants and just accpet them and make them part of society. Lumpkin has not taken any progressive stances that would make me want to vote for him. His entire campaign is based on that he is not his opponent, but from where I sit it looks like they have more in common than differences.

    Anyone else agree?

Comment by Dem Ready To Rule - — Friday, September 12, 2008 @ 11:50 am

  15. If they agree, its because they havent looked at Mikes positions. You can acess his various statements thru his website.
The guy wants out of Iraq, thinks gay people are like everyone else, sees the economy being looted b y transnational “malfactors of great wealth” to quote TR, and, unlike Obama, believes it imperative this bunch in power be investigated & tried.
But thats not a Dem position, is it??

    Comment by mutt — Friday, September 12, 2008 @ 12:15 pm

  16. Well Mutt it sounds like you are a supporter of Mike simple based on his military career and the fact that you are a Vietnam veteran. Thank you both for your service, but I want to know that someone I would support has more substance and takes a stand on positions. If he cannot articulate his positions other than some very broad statements on a website, then I am afraid I cannot support him. I would rather vote for a third party candidate than support someone who is simply hiding behind his career. He accuses Hunter Jr. of being handed the seat based on his name. Should Lumpkin be handed the seat based on his career or should it be based on his positions on the issues?

Since you seem to know about Lumpkin please tell me would vote to rescind the don’t ask - don’t tell policy? Would he support some cuts in military spending and redirect that money to education or other social programs that actually will help American citizens? Will he stop the attack on helpless immigrants? Will he stop wasting tax dollars on a stupid fence? Will he agree to not take any PAC money? Is he completely supportive of Roe v. Wade and willing to stop any attempts to prevent ANY changes to this fundamental right? What will he do to make health care affordable? He does not even address this and it is probably one of the most important issues facing Americans today?

He says he will work to fix Medicare and Social Security, but fails to say how? Why not tell the voters and let them decide based on the issues instead of his military record and the fact that he is not his opponent? I would not vote for Hunter ever, but Lumpkin will lose my vote if I do not see some real answers to issues that are important to voters.

Please show me where I can find the answers to these questions on his website?

  17. “Well Mutt it sounds like you are a supporter of Mike simple based on his military career and the fact that you are a Vietnam veteran.”
right. so, from that i must be a McCain supporter.
    try gettin a grip.
    vote for whoever you want.
Mike is acessible enough, but, no, he’s not a card board cutout ‘prog”.
DADT isnt anything he supports, nor does he support tossing gay people out of the military, if thats what you are asking.
“Stop the attack on helpless immigrants”? Do you mean wide open borders that drive down wages- no. he dosnt support wide open borders. Niether do I, if that means Im “attacking helpless immigrants”- so be it.
As far as the rest of your litany, why dont you try asking Mike, or anyone who works on his campaign full time.
frankly, that pic of him w/ Hillary gives me the creeps, but Ill take the bad with the good. Ive yet, in my political life since the 60’s, met ANYONE who conforms to all my ideas as to what I figure is right. I very rarely get to vote FOR someone, I usually only get to vote against someone.
After talkin w/ Mike, havin him in my home, and etc, I found someone I can vote FOR. this happens to coincide with someone who can win this district. ……
you can write in Kim Jong Il for all I care.
But, no, he’s not a correctoid who will toe campus progressive party lines. By all means keep looking, if thats what you want.
In as far as my conversations have gone with him, he believes in a scaled back military, and using the vast sums then freed up for actual infrastructure investment/rebuilding.
He thinks the fence is waste of money, as the ladder was invented ages ago.
But I doubt highly he conforms to all your various demands.

  18. Why so angry Mutt? I simply want to know where a candidate stands. If he is truly as ethical and honest as he claims on his web site, then why not simply post the answers his website for the voters to see?

By publishing his positions it shows that he is committed to those issues and is less likely to change his position. Someone who is not inclined to make their positions public on issues is either willing to say whatever they need to get elected or is talking out of both sides of their mouth and does not want to get caught.

I can give Lumpkin a little leeway since has never run for office before, but it is close to election time and the voters have a right to know specifics, not generalities.
